Problem Statement

Writing for websites is both simple and complex. On the one hand, all you need to do is say what you mean, in your words, in your voice. One the other, there are so many rules to consider! Are you thinking of keywords you should rank for? Are you including links in your text to additional information? Do those links refer back to your own website, which helps boost your SEO? Is what you’ve written easy to scan?

Objective & Goals

  • Automate and enhance daily routines using Apple Intelligence to anticipate user needs without manual input.
  • Deliver personalised wellness insights—like skincare and health data—through real-time, AI-powered diagnostics.
  • Seamlessly integrate Apple Glow with HomeKit, HomePod, and iPhone to unify the smart home ecosystem.
  • Position Apple as a leader in intuitive home automation by introducing a touch-less, visually immersive interface.

Introducing the Concept

Presenting My Solution: Apple Glow

To bridge the gap between reactive voice-controlled homes and intuitive smart living, I envisioned a product that could deliver personalised, ambient intelligence—without needing to be asked.

Enter Apple Glow, a smart mirror that connects seamlessly with HomeKit, HomePod, and the iPhone. Glow is not just another display; it’s a proactive assistant that understands your routine, promotes your health, and makes everyday decisions easier. It takes the passive smart home experience and transforms it into a proactive, visually engaging, and health-focused ecosystem.

Why a new product ?

Recognising the limitations of voice-only smart home control, I saw an opportunity not just to update HomeKit, but to evolve it. Instead of simply improving existing devices, I envisioned expanding Apple’s ecosystem with a new kind of interface — one that brings AI-driven proactivity into the heart of daily routines.

Apple Glow is my response to that challenge: a concept that introduces an entirely new product category to Apple’s smart home lineup. More than a functional upgrade, Apple Glow is a strategic enhancement — designed to turn passive environments into intelligent spaces that respond visually, contextually, and intuitively.

By creating a device that combines health insights, personalised automation, and immersive interaction, I aimed to fill the gap between automation and anticipation — bringing Apple closer to truly smart living.

Apple Glow Press release

Apple announces Apple Glow: Revolutionising Beauty and Wellness with AI-Powered Skincare Diagnostics

Sofia, Bulgaria, 1 January 2027 on Apple Event’2027

Many people face challenges when it comes to managing their skin. One of the main issues is the difficulty in creating an effective beauty routine. With the number of skincare and beauty products available today, consumers find themselves lost in a sea of choices, unsure of which products will truly help, leading to unnecessary purchases and frustration.

Without expert guidance, people often end up using skincare products that are not suitable for their specific skin type or condition, possibly worsening their skin.

There are also early signs of underlying health problems that often go unnoticed, delaying necessary medical treatment, which could prevent more serious issues down the line.

Apple Glow addresses this by offering a personalised and intelligent beauty experience. Through advanced AI and camera technology, Apple Glow scans your face daily, providing accurate diagnostics for your unique skin needs. It detects issues like dryness, acne, or irritation, allowing you to adopt a beauty routine that works specifically for you.

Beyond beauty, Apple Glow also helps users stay on top of their health. By detecting potential health concerns, such as skin discolouration or rapid changes in texture, it proactively suggests relevant blood or allergy tests and even recommends when it may be time to consult a healthcare professional. This early intervention ensures that users can address health issues before they escalate.

Apple Glow simplifies the often overwhelming process of selecting skincare products. By curating a list of brands and products that align with your skin’s needs, enabling you to buy the right products and even orders them with your consent.

“At Apple, we are focused on creating products that improve the lives of our customers, and Apple Glow is a natural extension of that mission,” said Dani, Manager at Apple. “We saw a growing demand for personalised skincare solutions, and realised that we can use our expertise in AI and user-friendly design to provide a solution that not only enhances your daily beauty regimen but also helps you stay ahead of potential health concerns. It’s about empowering users with knowledge and tools, all from the convenience of their own home.”

Apple Glow is designed for ease of use and seamless integration with your daily routine. Once installed and connected to your Apple HomeKit, the smart mirror scans your face each morning. Based on real-time analysis, it recommends a custom beauty routine tailored to your skin’s needs for the day. It might suggest a sequence like, “Start with a toner, follow with a moisturiser, and finish with SPF,” or a simpler approach such as “Only eye cream and SPF are needed today.” The device’s AI continuously learns from your inputs, evolving its recommendations over time. If a potential health concern is detected, Apple Glow will notify you and suggest further tests or medical consultations.

In addition, Apple Glow can also serve as your personal shopping assistant, automatically suggesting the most stable products based on your skin’s condition and allowing you to approve purchases directly from the mirror.

“As someone who has struggled with finding the right skincare routine for years, Apple Glow has been a game changer,” said Pam, an early user of Apple Glow. “It’s like having a dermatologist and beauty expert right in my bathroom. I feel confident knowing that I’m using the right products for my skin.”

UX Case Study (Conceptual)

Tools used:

Problem Statement

Despite advancements in home automation, most smart devices still rely on direct commands, limiting their potential for true intelligence and user convenience. HomeKit users often have to prompt Siri to perform repetitive tasks—like setting alarms or adjusting environmental settings—rather than having these actions happen intuitively. There’s a gap between smart home control and truly smart living.Writing for websites is both simple and complex.
